Revamping the Highland Park web site (again)

In the next week or so, the Highland Park web site is going to be rebuilt to fix some of its current ailments (calendar and images not working). Old site content is unfortunately not going to be carried over. More details as they are available.

Spring Party

Please reserve Saturday, April 12, 2008 for the ANNUAL HIGHLAND PARK SPRING PARTY! The party will take place at the Highland Park Farmhouse from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We will begin with fun kids' races at 11:00 a.m. at the baseball field by the Farmhouse. Wear your sneakers and comfortable clothes! Think egg & spoon, wheelbarrow, three legged races. . . From 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. we'll have a variety of games, arts and crafts projects, face painting and temporary tattoos. You'll even be able to plant your own spring flower in a pot you decorated yourself and take it home!

Highland Park Clean Up

The Great PA Cleanup and the Citizens Against Litter are once again encouraging folks to do a cleanup in their areas. Highland Park is planning a cleanup for Saturday, April 19th, from 9 am to Noon. We will meet at the intersection of Mellon and Jackson Street, and fan out from there. Bags and gloves will be available. Come on out and help beautify our neighborhood as the flowers and trees start to bloom. If you are interested, contact Bob Staresinic at 412-441-8972 or bob.63@netzero.net. Or just show up to clean up.

Summer Day Camp (2008)

The Highland Park Community Council has been providing a summer program for children for over fifty years. If you are unfamiliar with the H.P.C.C. Day Camp you are really missing out on a wonderful neighborhood treasure. It's a wonderful way to meet neighborhood children, get a little physical exercise your creativity and socialize. Our program runs for six weeks each summer from 9:00 am to 12:00. This year we are in session from June 16 to July 25, 2008.

Harvest Party

The HPCC will be having a Harvest Party at the SuperPlayground on Saturday November 10th from 12:30 to 2:30 pm. Join us for fun and games, snacks and warm cider! Highland Park Residential Historic District

The Highland Park neighborhood is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the "Highland Park Residential Historic District"! National Register designation is a big honor for our neighborhood. It also increases the financial incentives for some private property owners to maintain the historic character of the Highland park neighborhood.

Artists Laura Jean McLaughlin and Bob Ziller welcome you to free community workshops that allow children and adults of all ages to help make the 20 animal figures that will be installed in August on the retaining wall on One Wild Place (formerly "The Hill Road") near the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium.
