Organizations

The following organizations (including schools and churches) are located in Highland Park, are nearby, or have ties to the neighborhood.

(This is not a complete list.)

Highland Park Community Council

The Highland Park Community Council (HPCC), in operation since 1945, is the oldest neighborhood organization in the City of Pittsburgh.

While originally created as a social organization, the organization is now dedicated to a wide range of causes which include recreation, the park, education, safety, zoning, and recruitment of businesses to the Highland Park business district.

The Highland Park Community Club has over 500 members who represent families, individuals and businesses within Highland Park. The organization is an all-volunteer effort.

Meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of every month (except July and December) at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. Check the Community Calendar for the exact date and time of the meeting. The meetings are open to the public and usually include a program of interest to the members as well as committee reports, organizational business and announcements of upcoming events.

The volunteers of the HPCC conduct many annual events: Halloween Parade, Marathon Party, Reservoir of Jazz Concert Series (each Sunday in August at the entrance to the park), a Spring or Holiday House Tour, clean-up/maintenance day at the Super-playground, Easter Egg Hunt, Salsa in the Park, etc.
